In July 2017 the new Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) was formed as part of the Western Australian Government’s Machinery of Government changes. This has provided a unique opportunity to fully integrate the former departments of Agriculture and Food; Fisheries; and Regional Development, together with the staff from our State’s nine Regional Development Commissions.
Our Strategic Intent 2018-21 has been developed in consultation with key stakeholders and provides a high-level outline of our department’s purpose and priorities.
It will be the peak document in our corporate planning framework and a single point of reference on what all of our work will aim to achieve.
It outlines the department’s purpose, role, strategic priorities and key initiatives towards achieving our goals: to protect, grow and innovate in our primary industries and regions in Western Australia over the next three years.
